Serbu Super Shorty modified Remington 870. This is an NFA firearm, it is a registered AOW (Any Other Weapon) with the ATF.
These are legal and the NFA tax is just $5 on AOWs (not $200 as with most NFA firearms like an SBS).
We took this one to the local range and pattern tested it with five types of shotgun shells.
We shot each type of load at a target 5 yards away with the Serbu : 00 Buck Remington 8 pellet Tactical, Load Reduced Recoil, 00 Buck Winchester 9 pellet, #4 Buck Smith & Wesson , #4 Shot Remington Express 2 3/4 inch Magnum, #7-1/2 Shot RWS heavy field load 2 3/4 inch 1 1/4oz (Bird Shot)

Take note of the front and back sides of the shotgun patterning frame. The back side has the wing nuts, which are protected when on the other side of any impact
The results are interesting. The bird shot stayed tighter than we had thought it would, and the old buck shot really shot unpredictably.

Using a plain piece of paper can deceive the uninitiated with large holes created by wads in addition to the shot. This can lead people to believe Hollywood depictions of the power of a shotgun.
The gun club may have rules regarding shotgun targets, however a harder support behind the paper would have prevented large tears and holes from wads which can exaggerate performance.
Additional stress shooting at typical engagement distances with follow-up shots as well as longer distance shooting for the typical buyer/owner of the shorties would be interesting.
Not to mention penetration.
